Mitch Harris, long time volunteer for Variety – the Children’s Charity, has been recognized this week Volunteer Iowa for completing 50+ volunteer hours.

Harris began volunteering in 1977 at the Variety Telethon and shortly after he began to volunteer on a regular basis. Today, Harris handles transportation services for several Variety events including Variety Telethon and Polo on the Green. He also serves on the Variety Board of Directors.  This year, Harris is celebrating 40 years of volunteering with Variety.

Harris is being featured this week on the Volunteer Iowa blog as part of Governor Branstad’s “A Call to Service” initiative, designed to challenge and encourage Iowans to give back to their communities through volunteerism and service.
