Variety - the Children’s Charity is hosting its 34th annual Black Tie gala on Friday, January 18. The gala evening will celebrate the past, present and future of Variety and its mission to improve the lives of children who are at-risk, underprivileged, critically ill or living with special needs.

This year, the event will feature a panel of inspirational special guests moderated by We Are Iowa morning news anchors Sabrina Ahmed and Elias Johnson. The panelist include Brian Ferentz, Chuck Long and Casey Hooper. Each has been involved with Variety and are passionate about our mission.

Brian Ferentz is the Iowa Hawkeye Offensive Coordinator for tight ends who coaches alongside his father, head coach Kirk Ferentz.

Chuck Long, University of Iowa’s football great, now head the Iowa Sports Foundation, a Variety grant partner.

Casey Hooper is a Des Moines native and former lead guitarist for Katy Perry. Hooper, who now plays with Steve Perry, learned just how important Variety and it’s grant partners are at a young age. Hooper’s brother, Spencer, has down syndrome and received treatment from several Variety grant partners.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a complimentary happy hour. Dinner and program will begin at 7 p.m. with dancing to Kansas City band, Private Stock, to follow.

Black Tie will be held at The Ron Pearson Center in West Des Moines. Tickets are $300 per person or $3,000 per table of 10 and can be purchased online at varietyIowa.com/events.  For questions please contact margie@varietyiowa.com or call 515.243.4660.
