Variety Grants $2.5 Million to Children’s Charities Statewide

Variety- the Children’s Charity granted $2.5 million to 91 children’s charities throughout the state today at its annual grant reception at the Fred Maytag II Scout Center.

 

“I want to thank all those who support Variety and its mission,” said Sheri McMichael, Executive Director of Variety- the Children’s Charity. “As a direct result of your generous support, Variety is able to grant funds for projects and programs that will directly benefit the lives of thousands of Iowa’s children”.

 

Variety funds eight different types of grants; acute, camperships, convalescent, variety at work, preventative, underprivileged, transportation, youth at risk. Organizations that receive Variety grants range in size and focus, but all share the goal of bettering the lives of children in Iowa.

 

“We are honored to receive a grant from Variety this year,” said Lloyd VanderKwaak, EdD, President/CEO of ChildServe, a long-time community partner. “The impact of the investment by Variety in children with special healthcare needs can be seen through ChildServe facilities and programs. Variety touches the lives of the all of the children and families we serve. This particular grant will directly support families with children in our Autism program.”

 

Variety is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and special needs children throughout Iowa. Funding is provided to programs and initiatives that directly impact the well being of children in our community.
