Variety – the Children’s Charity will benefit from a new partnership with Top of the Vine and the Iowa Craft Beer Tent at the 2016 Iowa State Fair, August 11-21.
Top of the Vine and the Iowa Craft Beer tent have selected Variety as its 2016 charitable partner. Variety will receive all tips collected at both locations throughout the 11 days of the Fair. Additionally, Variety will be awarding a specialized bike to a deserving child at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 21 on stage in the Iowa Craft Beer Tent.
“Variety is thrilled to be chosen at the charitable partner for Top of the Vine and the Iowa Craft Beer Tent,” said Sheri McMichael, Executive Director of Variety. “A portion of the funds collected will be used to purchase a specialized, adaptive bike for Eddy, who will greatly benefit, both physically and emotionally, from the bike.”
Additional tips collected will be used to improve the lives of children throughout Iowa through Variety’s programs.
“We are excited to have Variety on board this year.” Said Steve Linn, operator of the Iowa Craft Beer Tent and Top of the Vine. “The fact that fairgoers will have the opportunity to see where the tips actually go right on stage on the last day of the fair is impactful.”
About Eddy
Eddy is seven years old with a diagnosis of Downs Syndrome. He is unable to ride a traditional bike due to impaired coordination and lower muscle tone. When Eddy rides an adaptive trike at therapy, there are lots of claps and smiles. This bike will allow Eddy to safely ride with his brother and family. It will also allow him to interact and play with children his age all while improving his muscle tone.

About Top of the Vine and the Iowa Craft Beer Tent
The Iowa Craft Beer Tent, started in 2011, has grown into an operation that focuses on exposing attendees to Iowa Craft Beer at over 20 town festivals and events across the state. Top of the Vine, started in 2015 has quickly become the “go-to” spot on the fairgrounds to get away from it all and enjoy an amazing view of downtown Des Moines while enjoying Iowa wine, beer, and soda.
