Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa Announces the 23rd Annual “Polo on the Green”
Coolest Party of the Summer Celebrates Variety
DES MOINES, IA (Wednesday, June 26, 2019) – Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa announced today the 23rd annual “Polo on the Green” event. Dubbed, “the coolest party of the summer,” the event will be held on Saturday, July 13 from 5:00-11:00 p.m. at Powder River Ranch. Variety’s polo event gives attendees the chance to see a championship polo match up close, wear fancy hats, eat inspired local cuisine and much more while feeling the thunder of hooves racing up and down the polo field.
Polo on the Green is Variety’s premier event that raises funds to support Variety’s mission to improve the lives of children who are underprivileged, at-risk, critically ill or living with special needs throughout Iowa. Variety works to fund and deliver effective programs and provide grants to support our mission.
“To date Polo on the Green has raised over $1.4 Million for children across Iowa, said Sheri McMichael, Executive Director of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa. “This event has been designed to be a lot of fun with some great polo being played but most importantly we are raising money to provide funding for capital projects, essential medical equipment and special programs to over 300 children’s organizations throughout Iowa.”
On Saturday, July 13, the event continues with a live championship polo match at 5:00 p.m. Come dressed in your finest and be prepared to stomp divots during halftime of the match, enjoy dinner, live and silent auctions and a wine & whiskey pull. Live music from Punching Pandas with dancing kicking off at 8:00 p.m.
Polo 2019 event chairs are Mary Byrne, UnityPoint Health and Amy Heston, Bank Iowa. Limited tickets remain for this year’s Polo on the Green at www.poloonthegreen.com. Ticket prices include a table of eight, $3,000, individual tickets, $375 and young professionals (21-35 years of age) tickets, $187.50.
