Variety – the Children’s Charity raised a record $250,000 at its 9th annual Variety Stag event last night. More than 450 men crowded the indoor horse arena at Powder River Ranch in Cumming to enjoy a steak dinner, craft beer sampling and a lively auction.

A large portion of the funds raised came from one live auction item, Fund a Need. Each year, Variety asks for donations to use towards purchasing specialized bikes. This year, Variety auctioned the opportunity to purchase a specialized bike at $2,500 and the auction winner(s) would be able to do a bike presentation at their company.  This unique approached helps Variety raise awareness on a broad scale while fulfilling its mission of improving the lives to children. In a matter of minutes, more than $85,000 was raised!

“Each year Variety Stag proves to be a first class event,” said Steve Hauschilt, Variety’s Board President, “I am proud of the event committee and our attendees for their generosity and caring so deeply about the children of Iowa.”

Over the last 9 years, Variety Stag has raised $1.2 million to improve the lives of children in Iowa.
