Variety Takes Top Honors at International Conference

Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa received the Variety Heart Award Thursday, May 4, at the 77th Variety International Conference awards gala in Atlanta, Georgia. The Heart award is the top honor given to chapters that exemplify excellence in improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and special needs children.

 

Variety was one of three finalists selected to present to the international delegation and a voting committee comprised of four internationals board members.

 

The Heart Awards are based on annual financials, program metrics and fundraising successes for the year. Metrics include:

 

  • All obligations to Variety International are up to date
  • The grants and programs carried out by the Office for children
  • Financial Results – including sound business practices with no outstanding tax or legal matters
  • Marketing and communication carried out by the Office
  • Being an active part of the Variety family.

 

Additionally, Variety received the International Care Award recognizing our grant program. In 2016, Variety provided more than two million dollars to 96 children’s organizations throughout the state of Iowa.

 

Atlantic Bottling Company, a longtime Variety supporter, was honored with the Corporate Award. Kolby Jones, Variety board member, was honored with the Presidential citation for his efforts chairing Variety’s Polo on the Green. During his tenure, Polo raised $352,236.
