Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart of the Variety Telethon.  We offer “behind the scenes” volunteer opportunities the weekend of our broadcast. Shifts are available throughout Telethon weekend, unless otherwise noted. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old; volunteers who are 14-15 are able to volunteer when accompanied by an adult. You can sign up to volunteer on Variety’s Volunteer Local page.

Set-up

Volunteers for the setup shift help get the interview areas and volunteer rooms ready.  Areas that are setup include the main stage, interview stage, beverage area, VIP room and phone panel room. Sign up here.

Loggers

Loggers get a front row seat at the Telethon stage. They keep a written log of who is performing on stage, interviews, check presentations and toteboard changes throughout the Telethon.  This is a great way to see the cast up close and personal! Sign up here.

Go-To Team

The Go-To Team welcome VIPs, cast, volunteers and the general public to Telethon. They also provide helpful directions, information and assist with Variety's Selfie Station. Three people are needed per shift, so this is a great opportunity to sign up with friends. Sign up here.

VIP Pledge Collectors

Collectors are in the VIP Room and check in VIP volunteers, give them their place cards and collect pledges at check-in and as the VIP’s come off stage. Collectors ensure pledge forms are filled out correctly and fix them as needed. Sign up here.

VIP Placards

When VIP name placards are spelled incorrectly, these volunteers update and re-print the placards. They are also responsible for printing placards for any last-minute VIPs that go on-air. These volunteers also assist in the VIP Room as needed. Sign up here.

Tear-Down

Volunteers help tear down and load all of the telethon items and unload the same items at the Variety office. Sign up here.

Transportation Drivers

Drivers will operate shuttle vehicles driving cast and production staff between the Marriott Hotel and the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. Additional responsibilities include picking up cast members from the airport, taking them to interviews and dinners and running other errands on behalf of the production team. Drivers must be 25 with a valid drivers license and a good driving record. Vehicles are provided. To volunteer as a transportation driver, please email Mitch or call 285-4567.

Transportation Desk

The transportation desks are located at the Marriott downtown and the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. Desk volunteers communicate with drivers via walkie-talkies, answer questions and assist the cast in coordinating shuttle rides. Volunteers must be at least 17 years old to help. Sign up here.
