Variety Postpones Young Variety’s Savor Des Moines Event Scheduled for April 18

DES MOINES, IA (Friday, March 20, 2020) – Variety - the Children's Charity of Iowa announced today that it will postpone Young Variety’s Savor Des Moines event scheduled for April 18 at Capital Square in Des Moines, Iowa. With growing concerns regarding the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19, the decision to postpone and reschedule the event to a later date in the year, that has yet to be confirmed, was determined.

“As a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of special needs and underprivileged children, we share the responsibility for the safety of our community,” said Sheri McMichael, executive director of Variety - the Children’s Charity of Iowa. “At this critical time, our foremost priority is protecting the health and wellbeing of the Iowa Department of Public Health.”

Jacob Repp, event chair of Savor Des Moines and vice president of events of Young Variety noted, “We are disappointed to have to communicate this news to our community, particularly as we recognize the hard work that so many have invested in preparing for the event. We will continue to work with our partners and sponsors as we plan for Savor Des Moines in the fall.”
