Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor received a grant from Variety – the Children’s Charity to support the Unlocking the Future Capital Campaign to build a new Boys & Girls Club in Cedar Rapids.

This grant supports the Club’s capital campaign to build a standalone Boys & Girls Club on the Southeast side of Cedar Rapids in the Wellington Heights Neighborhood. Through this project, the Club's membership and programming will expand significantly, providing a safe haven for 300 children and teens from Cedar Rapids not currently served. This will effectively double the number of young people being served daily by Boys & Girls Clubs of the Corridor across the organization. The new Club will consist of two levels. The first floor will house a gymnasium, cafeteria, game room, education center, and STEM lab, offering opportunities for children to develop skills in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. On the second level, a Teen Center, teaching kitchen, art room, and music room with a DJ booth will cater to the interests of middle and high school students.

“We are grateful to have Variety’s support of our capital campaign.” said John Tursi, “With their support, Cedar Rapids youth will have access to the necessary resources they need to build a successful future.”
