?DES MOINES, IA (Monday, March 16, 2020) – Variety - the Children's Charity of Iowa announced today that it will postpone eastern Iowa's Spirits of Spring scheduled for April 2 at the Olympic South Side Theatre in Cedar Rapids. With growing concerns regarding the outbreak of the coronavirus COVID-19, the decision to postpone and reschedule the event October 22 was determined.
“As a nonprofit organization committed to enriching the lives of special needs and underprivileged children, we share the responsibility for the safety of our community,” said Sheri McMichael, executive director of Variety – the Children’s Charity of Iowa. “At this critical time, our foremost priority is protecting the health and wellbeing of the Iowa Department of Public Health.”
Robyn Rieckhoff, director of Eastern Iowa Variety noted, “We are disappointed to have to communicate this news to our community, particularly as we recognize the hard work that so many have invested in preparing for the event.
